TUTORIAL: Haz tu propio Begleri/Make your own Begleri (worry beads)

HAZ TU PROPIO BELGERI / MAKE YOUR OWN BEGLERI

English Version

What are Worry Beads?
Worry beads consist of a number of beads of various materials such as coral, glass and ivory strung together and knotted at the end, often adorned with an ornamental tuft.
During a moment or worry or contemplation, people work individual beads with their thumb and forefinger, in a row, in order to calm themselves as well as to pass the time

Materials

- Lace (you can also use shoelace). Add 2 centimeters to your hand length.

- Beads: Many people use nuts or dices. The thing is, their weight must be around 0.5 grams (0.1 lb) so you don't break your knuckles while using these worry beads ;)

- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Sellotape

Tutorial

1. Cut the lace with a length around two more centimeters than your own hand legth.

Before cutting the lace
2. Try to put the lace across the hole of the nut. This hole must be slightly wider than the lace, but not too much. If it doesn't fit the hole, go to the next step.

3. Stick a bit of sellotape at the end of your lace (3a), give it a pointy shape (3b). Now it should get through the hole easily. Pull on the other side using the tweezers (3c). If it got through (3d) just remove the sellotape. If not, try with a narrower lace.

4. Tie a knot at the end of the lace. This knot would make the nut not to fall while doing the tricks.

5. Now tie another knot on the other side of the nut. This will limit the movement of the nut across the lace.

6. Repeat steps 4 & 5  on the other end of the lace and you're finished! Feel free to untie the knots to make it more suitable to your hand size, but I think you'll be able to do it while reading this tutorial again.
